Know your role
What pisses me off is someone who willingly signs on for something knowing good and well what the job entails, to only plop his fat ass in his chair and try to change the way things run.
I'm tired of people trying to be responsible for everything everyone else does except for their own stuff. This is the same person who goes off on others for "not knowing everything" but isn't willing to admit that they may not be right 100% of the time. Anyone who knows me knows that I know my limitations. I own up to the fact that I may not be knowledgeable about a topic. If i'm ignorant about the situation, I won't argue a point. Arguing for the sake of arguing is in my opinion the greatest form of stupidity. If you only argue based on feelings, but have no facts to back them up, you only succeed in showing people how ignorant, uninformed, and generally selfish you are.
Back to "knowing your role". I work for a company where I was hired as a Web Developer, not an application developer. There is a very distinct difference. The overall description of our group is Internal Web Development. Not All Encompassing Application Design and Development. Get a clue, and realize that just because you want to do everything your way in order to establish job security doesn't mean that the rest of the group should adopt your philosophies. Good job on building that job security by the way ;)
Adjusting with the times isn't always a good thing, keeping yourself abreast of changes, and the opportunities they present, however; is, but always jumping on the newest bandwagon will eventually show others that you are wishy-washy and unable to commit to anything. Who wants that? Employers want stability, not "adjustments" every time they turn around. The bottom line is, if you're an employee, you do what the "Man" wants. Period, end of story. If your goals are different than your employers, then you should find another place to persue those goals, or eventually, your employer will help you.
I've never wished bad things to happen to anyone. I like to think no one else would of me. But I'd be naive if I thought that didn't happen, but to all those who wish my "end is near". Guess my end is a little farther away than yours was.
Thank you and have a Great day.
